Sponsorship

For $30 a month you provide food, clothing, a school uniform, shoes, and medical care for a child who has been orphaned or is otherwise vulnerable because of an HIV/AIDS related living situation. The scope of help encompasses not only the child, but the family the child is living with. By assisting the family unit we hope to foster a closer connection between the child and the guardian. Rather than the child being a burden on the family, he or she would bring positive support.

Each child is assigned to a program officer in Kenya who meets with the child monthly to assess the living conditions, progress in school and any other issues the child may be facing. Quarterly updates are sent to each sponsor about his or her child. Twice yearly the child will write a letter to his or her sponsor. We also encourage the sponsor to correspond with the child, sending notes and photos. Personal gifts are not allowed. Each child receives a gift at the monthly fun day that is provided through funding from the sponsorship program. It is our desire that all of the children feel loved and accepted equally.

To date we sponsor approximately 400 children ranging in age from 4 years to 21 years. Any child is eligible to continue in the program as long as he or she is willing to remain in school and under supervision from a social worker.
